(God’s Not Dead) Attention All “God’s Not Dead” Fans & Faith Defenders, let’s reach out to Mary’s Diner and encourage her to take a stand for her faith and trust God to provide the courage she needs in the midst of persecution. Send Mary an email right now letting her know we stand with her and are praying for her victory. Jump on her web site or flood her Facebook page to champion Mary – to be resilient, stay the course and not be bullied into forgoing her rewarding public prayer .
Earlier this week we heard an encouraging report about a privately owned, independent restaurant in North Carolina rewarding their customers with a 15% discount for praying in public before their meals. As reported by TheBlaze.com, news started to spread after a picture of the receipt appeared on Orlando Z88.3 Radio Station’s Facebook page.
According to TheBlaze.com report, Mary Haglund, c0-owner of Mary’s Gourmet Diner confirmed the price reduction noting that “she’s been offering it for the past four years without much fanfare…for me, every plate of food is a gift, she explained…I never take that for granted and when I see someone in a restaurant honoring their gratefulness at my table … it touches my heart.”
Well it didn’t take long (less than a week) for one of our nations leading atheist organizations to send a threatening letter to Mary’s Diner calling the discount illegal under federal civil rights laws, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.
Since then, Mary Haglund, co-owner of the restaurant, dropped the discount over fears of a lawsuit from the organization, according to WGHP-TV in High Point, North Carolina. Once again, let’s flood Mary’s Facebook page and let her know she’s not alone and to take a stand.
