• Students Denied Right To Form Faith-Based Club At NY High School

(God’s Not Dead) Here’s a new twist on how student’s rights are being violated. According to a report on OneNewsNow.com, Wantagh High School student Liz Loverde said she wanted to start a club “Dare to Believe”,  to help kids struggling with life issues such as depression, parents divorce, self-harm, suicide, anxiety, bullying, etc. but, she was denied the request. The school’s principal said not so fast and actually told her that it would be “illegal”. Really, as in against the law to have a faith-based club at school…Here’s what miss Loverde had to say in this Fox News interview:

According to the OneNewsNow.com report, “When Loverde and friends knocked on the principal’s door and told her their plans, the student recalls the reaction: “Okay, right there you can’t have it because it’s called the Christian club.” ….Jeremy Dys with the Liberty Institute, who’s representing Liz, says the Equal Access Act of 1984 makes it illegal to deny students the right to form Christian clubs… this is the second public school and third time on Long Island that Liberty has threatened legal action to ensure students have the right to form a faith-based club.” Read full report here

As you can see from this interview, Liz is not backing down and will not be bullied. She has a calling on her life to serve the hurting students in her high school – with truth, love and grace. We applaud you miss Liz! Stay strong Christian soldiers, stand in the gap for our King – be encouraged and keep your eyes on the Cross, Amen

  • Colorado Public School Bans Praying, Singing Hymns, or Talking About “Religion”.

(God’s Not Dead) You just can’t make this stuff up…It appears an American public high school (Pine Creek High School) in Colorado Springs, CO. has decided it’s within their rights to violate the student’s 1st Amendment Rights by banning a group of students from gathering to pray, sing “religious” songs, or even talk about “religious” topics during the school day – including the student’s own free time.  Apparently the students have been doing this at Pine Creek High School for three years without any problems, until now.Tedesco - ADF

OneNewsNow.com reported that Jeremy Tedesco of Alliance Defending Freedom says ADF has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the students. He says the school rebuffed a letter of explanation ADF sent to the administration. “We sent them a letter explaining that it clearly violated our client’s First Amendment rights,” he tells OneNewsNow. “They responded aCoSchoolSurveynd said We don’t see it that way – and so the lawsuit followed.” Read Full Story Here

  • “God’s Not Dead” At Ohio High School Where Local Residents Take A Stand For Their Faith.

(God’s Not Dead) It seems that America’s High Schools are a primary target for the atheist lead organization, FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation), the ACLU and other like minded groups who have have made it their mission to enforce their interpretation of the hotly debated “Establishment Clause” which they claim provides evidence for enforcing the concept known as Separation of Church and State.

Over the past 12 months, these organizations have been busy writing letters to numerous private businesses and public organizations complaining about “religious” oriented activities, symbols and signs they claim are either offensive or violating the constitutional Establishment Clause. In numerous situations, there have even been lawsuits threatened and in some cases actually filed. One ongoing example is that of Licking Valley High School where there were two complaints filed.

This video report from CitizenLink.org provides an interesting twist on this story:

As this story developed the local residents decided to do something about it to show their support for the school and held a prayer meeting on the football field. Well as you can imagine what happened next…watch this video and read the full report on TheBlaze.com Here.

    LickingValleyHS

As the saga continued we now learn that the complaints have moved off school property. It seems three beautiful crosses displayed on “Private Property” across from Licking Valley High School have been drawn into the previous complaints against this school. A local resident had these crosses installed on his property in a bold stance to support the school, now he’s been targeted by the FFRF as well. Read Full Story Here.

SnowPlowAs reported in a post by TheBlaze.com, “the city has decided not to paint over government-owned snow plows adorned with Christian artwork following a complaint from a local atheist who believes that the religious designs violate the separation of church and state.

City officials reportedly first told students at two Christian schools participating in the annual “Paint the Plow“ event — an initiative in which community schools are invited to paint snow plows — that they would have the opportunity to paint over the religious messages, but the schools declined.

But now according to a recent press release, (Read Full Release Here) the city is taking a different course, keeping the artwork intact and adding a disclaimer to each of the 27 snow plows that were designed as part of this year’s program.

From one local paper, The Argus Leader, “It is the first time in the program’s five-year history the city has received a complaint from Novotny’s organization …but it’s not the first time religious themes were used. Sioux Falls Lutheran School’s entry last year included the phrase: “Jesus loves you snow much.” Lutheran High School’s plow blade last year read: “Jesus is our Superman!”

Expressing faith is part of the lesson plan at Sioux Falls Lutheran, but students also are taught to respect other people’s opinions, assistant principal Sarah Sailer said. Read Full Report Here

  • God’s Not Dead In OK Middle School…”Faith In America” Painting Stays.

(God’s Not Dead)  Once again we celebrate the response of a middle school in Oklahoma that took a bold stance against the atheist organization, FFRF who filed a complaint recently claiming this amazing painting, by Donald Zolan, violates the US Constitution and demanded it be removed.

FaithInAmericaAccording to a post on TheBlaze.com, “A painting on display in an Oklahoma middle school’s main office has caught the ire of atheist activists who are demanding that officials immediately remove it.

The poster, based on a painting titled “Faith in America” by artist Donald Zolan, has been hanging in Kenneth Cooper Middle School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for nearly two decades. But the Freedom From Religion Foundation claims it violates the U.S. Constitution. The district, though, doesn’t appear to be budging.”

An attorney for the Putnam City Public School District responded to the atheist group September 29, noting that the complaint — reportedly based on a local family’s dissatisfaction with the poster — is the first ever the district has received in its 18 years of displaying the image.

“We cannot agree that the poster displayed in the office is a per se violation of the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution,” wrote attorney Anthony Childers… “ Read Full Story Here

  • Video: Former Atheist Lee Strobel’s Powerful Conversion Testimony Proves God’s Not Dead

(God’s Not Dead) Former atheist, award winning Chicago Tribune journalist and Yale Law graduate, Lee Strobel shares his powerful “Saul-to-Paul” testimony of how the living God supernaturally grabbed his heart and mind to reveal Himself.  Lee Strobel began investigating the credibility of Christianity, as well as the Bible’s authenticity and inerrancy. Lee’s journey and research uncovered overwhelming evidence that he couldn’t ignore or deny.

Ultimately God prepared Lee’s heart to accept the truth. Since that faithful day, God has been using His new creation mightily – his gifts, skills, talents and passion for spreading the Good News Of The Gospel.  According to his web site, after investigating the evidence for Jesus, Lee became a Christian in 1981. He joined the staff of Willow Creek Community Church in 1987 and later became a teaching pastor. He joined Saddleback Valley Community Church as a teaching pastor in 2000. He left Saddleback to write books and host the national network TV program Faith Under Fire.

Atheist-tuCaseForChristrned-Christian Lee Strobel, is a New York Times best-selling author of more than twenty books and serves as Professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University.

Described in the Washington Post as “one of the evangelical community’s most popular apologists,” Lee shared the Christian Book of the Year award in 2005 for a curriculum he co-authored with Garry Poole about the movie The Passion of the Christ. • What If People Who Believe In God And The Bible Threatened Legal Action Unless Scripture Was Displayed And Prayer Was Included…?

(God’s Not Dead) Interesting question isn’t it? Seriously ponder the logic here; If the people who don’t believe God exists, are offended by prayers, and claim that Bible scripture is divisive can take legal action to stop it (in public buildings or private businesses) – then why can’t people of faith make same argument for anything that is void of God or the Bible?  Like Josh (Shane Harper) in “God’s Not Dead” stated, “…how can you hate something that doesn’t exist..?

Once again, an atheist organization is crying fowl over a privately funded sculpture placed at a school outside Madison County High School in Danielsville, Georgia that includes inscriptions from Romans 8:31 “If God be for us, who can be against us?” and Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

TheBlaze.com report stated that “While an anonymous local man reportedly started the controversy when he complained, many locals have spoken out in favor of the Christian-themed monument”. Why are these baseless threats often made by anonymous people who are offended by something related to something they claim doesn’t exist? Read Full Report on TheBlaze.com Here.

  • New Interview With Dr. John Lennox Answering “The Hardest Question Of All”

Rice Broocks “Defenders Of The Faith” Series – Answering “the hardest question of all”…

In this last interview in a four part series, Oxford Professor John Lennox addresses what he calls, “the hardest question of all” which is the problem of pain and suffering.  In this year’s top Christian movie produced by Pure Flix, God’s Not Dead,  this pivotal question leads to the dramatic, final classroom scene of the movie, between Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper) and professor Radisson, (Kevin Sorbo).

Dr Lennox stresses in this interview that this issue is unlike any other. “Cancer looks different to an Oncologist than it does to a mother who’s been told she has three months to live”. It is vital to remember that we are to give the reasons for our hope with “gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). The circumstances that have caused people to turn away from God are many times complex and very painful. We must listen more than we talk, yet be confident that the answers we give can bring people peace.

There are other issues that are addressed in this dialogue that are important in talking with skeptics such as religious violence. “There is no excuse for violence in the name of God” Lennox emphasizes. Jesus didn’t call his disciples to fight for Him with the sword, but to spread His message by the power of its truth.

This was by far my favorite segment in this series. To be able to have a discussion covering a wide range of topics with John Lennox was unforgettable. I pray that you will be encouraged as you watch and also more confident to share the Gospel with others as a result of these sessions.

Remember, God is not the cause of our pain, but the source of our healing and hope.

    Didn’t catch the first three interviews…Click Here: Episode 1Episode 2Episode 3.  Enjoy.

JLennoxBk1Dr. Lennox is the author of several books including “Seven Days that Divide that World”, “God’s Undertaker- Has Science Buried God?”, and “Gunning for God- Why the New Atheists are missing the target” He possesses a keen sense of taking complex scientific issues and communicating them in such a way that people of all ages and backgrounds can grasp their meaning.
